This is one of my few attempts at a simulation. It came about when one of the engineering teachers wanted something to demonstrate just why an unbalanced rotating system vibrates. It's actually intuitive but the maths behind it is reasonabley complex and a good example of vector maths. So the teacher tried to make one using many frames in flash, then shifting a scaling arrows etc. It was difficult to get all the bits and pieces meeting at the right place and the scaling did funny things to arrow heads.
My effort below is based on the maths. It uses only three frames in Flash, two are replayed continuously while the arrow positions are recalculated and redrawn using Actionscript. Anyway I was quite pleased with the result. Especially the size of the file - 9KB.
The simulation has never been finished - it needs some more work to make it more explanatory. Maybe some day!
